Growing up just a block away from The Notorious B.I.G., watching him go from local corner boy to rap superstar, Gregory Skyler “Skyzoo” Taylor couldn’t help but dream big. The Brooklyn, NY native saw life in all of its heaven and hell splendor being from the infamous home of Jay-Z and "Do The Right Thing". He started rapping at age nine, writing about what he witnessed on his daily routines as a child. After a childhood and teenage run honing his craft, Skyzoo began making mixtapes in 2002, and in 2005, through a mutual friend who'd heard one of his tapes, he was introduced to Grammy-winning producer 9th Wonder. The North Carolina native was won over by the upstart MC’s talents, and readily sent him beats to record over—which would soon become 2006’s Cloud 9: The Three Day High, a collaborative EP between the two that launched Sky into hip-hop’s consciousness. His deft wordplay, confident delivery, and vivid imagery were all on display. Fans continued to flock following Corner Store Classic in 2007 and 2009’s The Power of Words, each mixtape again showcasing Sky’s skillset as a lyricist and songwriter.

It was September 2009’s The Salvation, though, released through Jamla/Duck Down Records, that solidified the rhymeslinger into an elite class. “It all was leading up to The Salvation,” he says. “That was the album I had been planning since I was nine years old.” Landing at No. 14 on the Billboard Top 200 charts in its opening week, the critically acclaimed debut album stood on a cohesive and engaging sincerity that explains the cult-like fan base Sky has assembled. Still riding the wave of his debut, Sky returned in October 2010 with Live From the Tape Deck, a collaborative EP produced entirely by super producer !llmind. Critical acclaim ensued again, and the lead single "Speakers On Blast", Sky's biggest hit to date, enjoyed hundreds of BDS charted spins on mainstream radio across the country, regular rotation slots on Sirius/XM satellite radio, and an appearance on BET's 106 & Park as a member of the highly coveted Music Matters team. With an audience of of 5 million viewers, Skyzoo saw his fan base grow even wider with the 106 & Park market now in his corner. His performance on the #1 rated video show on television lead to a phone call from legendary hip hop artist and CEO 50 Cent, who expressed his desire to work with Skyzoo immediately.

The summer of 2011 brought The Great Debater, a free mixtape of album-quality material that Sky treated his fans to as a follow up to two successful retail releases. The fan base Skyzoo has been able to acquire stretches from the street to the workplace, from the college hipsters to the women who shop in luxe boutiques, which have all lead to memorable placements: HBO's hit Entourage, NBA2K11 and NBA2K12 (he's the first and only artist to date to be included in the franchise in back to back releases), Grand Theft Auto 4: Lost and the Damned, and ESPN’s KIA NBA Shoot Around have all used Sky's music towards their markets, and the rapper also has a longstanding relationship as a musical rep for Brand Jordan. Skyzoo has toured with Ghostface Killah, Raekwon, Pharoahe Monch, Sean Price, and Buckshot, as well as headlined internationally in places like China, London, Paris, Berlin, Italy, Amsterdam, and more.
