About The Away Team

Created in the golden era of North Carolina hip hop, Jamla Records' The Away Team proves that emcee-producer pairs can still produce consistently exceptional and innovative music track after track.

The Away Team is a hip hop duo consisting of emcee Sean Boog and producer Khrysis, introduced to each other by Jamla Records/It's A Wonderful World Music Group founder and CEO, 9th Wonder.  Pennsylvania-born Sean Boog's dexterity behind the microphone is showcased in his versatility and breadth.  In addition to his extensive work with group mate Khrysis and North Carolina collective Justus League, Sean Boog has since released two solo projects, Light Beers Ahead of You and Phantom of the Jamla, both of which receiving positive feedback throughout major media sources.  From his gritty street anthems like "Gettin' Mine" to his impassioned storytelling in "Fight the Feeling," Sean Boog continues to prove his widespread appeal and impeccable lyricism.

Khrysis provides production for The Away Team, and is most well known for his samples of records with intricate melodies and diverse drum beats.  Critically acclaimed for his production on Heltah Skeltah's D.I.R.T., Little Brother's LeftBack and Minstrel Show, and Talib Kweli's Gutter Rainbows, among others, Khrysis' wide range of production credits also include Jean Grae, Tanya Morgan, Masta Ace, KRS-One & Buckshot, and Mac Miller.  Additionally, Khrysis was chosen by Nike to create the soundtrack to the documentary LACED, which premiered in 2007 and celebrated Nike's 30-year legacy.

As a duo, The Away Team has released four full-length albums, including National Anthem (2005), Training Day (2007), The Warm Up (2009), and Independence Day (2010).  Guests appearances on these albums include Smif-n-Wessun, Little Brother, Evidence of Dilated Peoples, Sean Price, Black Milk, and more.  The dynamic duo was also featured in "Detroit State of Mind (Remix)" from Elzhi's "Ellmatic" album.  In addition to their extensive discography, The Away Team has shared the stage on tour with artists including Dilated Peoples, Royce Da 5'9, Little Brother, Boot Camp Clik, and Raekwon.
